It was a beautiful morning to head down to Mud Lake and do some measuring. We've been studying linear measurement in class, so today's challenge was for each group to find 5 items that could be effectively measured with each of the following units: mm, cm, and m. Once they located an item, they had to estimate its length and then measure it using a metre stick marked in both mm and cm.
We also had another project on the go in the classroom while we were busy at Mud Lake. The grade 5s had each designed and built an insulated container to keep a cup of hot chocolate warm. Their goal was to return to a cup full of warm hot chocolate.
With all of this going on (not to mention an amazing monthly house assembly, hosted by the French teachers), we didn't manage to get to report and consolidate our findings, so you'll have to check back later for updates!
